Anciens membres
Atom Willard (2003 - 2007) : batteur de The Offspring, pour les tournées de 2003 à 2007 Annonce officielle du départ du groupe sur le site officiel de The Offspring le 27 Juillet à 19h50 heure française. Atom décide de consacrer sa carrière pro à Angels And Airwaves. Il reste en bons termes avec le groupe.
X-13 (1998-2005)- Christophe Higgins : voix off, percussion, troisième guitare Il a quitté le groupe pour sa vie de famille en 2005. Mais il est revenu pour les vocalises avec Dexter dans le nouvel album Rise and Fall, Rage and Grace.
Ron Welty (1987 - 2003) - Ronald Welty : Ancien batteur. Il a quitté le groupe en 2003 après plus de 15 ans de carrière avec The Offspring. Né le 1er février 1971.
Josh Freese (2003): Ancien batteur. Il a remplacé d'urgence Ron Welty après son départ pour l'enregistrement de Splinter. Batteur des Vandals (2007): Josh remet le couvert en endossant encore une fois les gants et les baguettes pour le dernier opus studio des Offspring.
James Lilja (1985 - 1987) : Ca n'a pas été vraiment un membre de The Offspring mais il a été le batteur de Manic Subsidal, leur groupe d'origine, et c'est lui qui a donné au groupe son nom actuel, d'après un film d'horreur.
Jim Benton (1984) : Il a été le premier batteur de Manic Subsidal , groupe d'origine de The Offspring , il quitta le groupe la même année pour des raisons inconnues.
Doug Thompson (1984) : Il a été le chanteur de Manic Subsidal , groupe d'origine de The Offspring , il quitta aussi le groupe la même année pour laisser la place à Dexter.

Dates Importantes
1983: Ebauches musicales de Dexter et Greg K.
1984: Formation de Manic Subsidal avec Dexter (Bryan Keith Holland) et Greg K. (Gregory Kriesel). Ils ont alors 19 ans.
1985: Noodles (K. Wasserman) rejoint le groupe (il a été pris dans le groupe car il avait l'âge d'acheter de la bière, ayant alors plus de 21 ans, (la majorité dans certains états des Etats-unis), ainsi que James Lilja, batteur , qui quitte le groupe au début 1987 pour continuer ses études en médecine.
1987: Création du groupe THE OFFSPRING (nom donné par James Lilja, certainement d'après un film d'horreur du même titre). Ron Welty rejoint le groupe après le départ de James.
1989: Premier album studio: The Offspring. Premières tournées.
1990: Dexter, âgé de 24 ans, devient père d'une fille avec son ex femme qui est décédée peu de temps après la naissance de leur fille.Il s'est marié avec Kristine Luna le 21 Août 1995.
Noodles, âgé de 27 ans, devient père lui aussi d'une fille Chelsea Nicole. Il s'est marié en 1998 avec Jackie Patrice le 14 février.
1992: (16 octobre) Sortie du deuxième album: Ignition. Début du succès aux États-Unis. Premiers fans.
1993: Ron Welty, le batteur devient père d'un garçon.
1994: (8 avril) Sortie de Smash, leur troisième album. À ce jour, avec 14 millions de copies, Smash est l'album paru chez une maison de disque indépendante (Epitaph) le plus vendu au monde. Début du succès de The Offspring en Europe.
Offspring pendant le Reading and Leeds Festivals (2004)1997: (4 février) Sortie de Ixnay on the Hombre , qui connait un succès plus modéré mais est tout de même très apprécié par les fans.
1998: (17 novembre) Sortie d' Americana, qui connait un immense succès (10 millions de copies vendues) ce qui amena de nombreux fans d'accuser le groupe de prendre un virage commercial. Cet album sort sur un nouveau label, Columbia Records (Sony), où s'est réfugié le groupe après un conflit avec Epitaph.
1999: Greg K. devient père à son tour d'un fils («Michael»). Participations du groupe au Woodstock de 1999.
2000: (14 novembre) Sortie de Conspiracy of One, certifié disque de platine.
2003: Ron Welty, le batteur, quitte le groupe après plus de 15 ans en plein enregistrement d'un nouvel album. Josh Freese est appelé d'urgence pour terminer l'enregistrement de l'album, Splinter, qui sort à la fin de l'année(2 décembre).
2004: Atom Willard rejoint le groupe pour remplacer Ron. The Offspring effectue une tournée mondiale (Warped tour) avec lui.
2005: Sortie du "Greatest hits". The Offspring entre en studio en fin d'année pour leur prochain album.
2005: The Offspring effectue une grande tournée dans le monde. Ils participent aussi au Vans Warped Tours avec plusieurs autres groupes Skate punk.
Atom Willard rejoint le groupe Angels And Airwaves. Il ne quitte pas le groupe The Offspring pour autant.
2007 : Après plusieurs reports, "les offs" retournent en studio pour concrétiser leur 8e opus annoncé officiellement pour le 17 juin 2008. L'album est produit par Bob Rocket s'intitulera "Rise and fall, rage and grace". Atom quitte officiellement le groupe et se voit remplacé par Pete Parada (ex Face to Face et Saves the Day). Trois titres pour l'album sont confirmés : "Hammerhead","Takes Me Nowhere" et "Half-truism". Le premier single sera "Hammerhead" et sortira sur les ondes début mai a annoncé le groupe sur son site officiel. Le nouvel album intitulé "Rise and Fall, Rage and Grace" sortira le 16 juin sous le label COLUMBIA/ SONY-BMG MUSIC.
2008 : The Offspring est programmé pour les Eurockéennes de Belfort , les 4, 5 ou 6 juillet. Le 10 avril, l'album est annoncé, il s'appellera Rise and Fall, Rage and Grace, sortira le 16 juin de la même année et le premier single sera Hammerhead La tracklist du nouvel album est la suivante : 1) Half-Truism 2) Trust In You 3) You're Gonna Go Far, Kid 4) Hammerhead 5) A Lot Like Me 6) Takes Me Nowhere 7) Kristy, Are You Doing Okay? 8) Nothingtown 9) Stuff Is Messed Up 10) Fix You 11) Let's Hear It For Rock Bottom 12) Rise And Fall. Le premier single "Hammerhead" extrait du nouvel album est proposé depuis le 5 mai en téléchargement gratuit sur le site officiel du groupe (www.offspring.com)

Albums

The Offspring possède 8 albums à son actif, durant chacun environ 40 minutes, dont:

1 sous le label Nemesis record, ré-enregistré sous le label Nitro Records
3 sous le label Epitaph, leurs CDs les plus «sombres et punk»
4 (les 4 derniers) sous le label Sony, leurs CDs les plus «rock».


The Offspring reste à ce jour le groupe ayant vendu le plus de disque sur un label indépendant pour l'album Smash (1994) sur le label Epitaph. Ils ont vendu 14 millions d'exemplaires dans le monde entier.

The Offspring s'est livré à plusieurs genres de musique différents et non pas qu'au punk. Ainsi, on peut remarquer dans ses albums, des chansons de ska, de rock et de power-rock avec parfois des retouches fantaisistes (trompettes, FXs, percussions diverses, etc.).
Les thèmes des paroles sont aussi très variés.

Vinyles
Pour les collectionneurs: les albums ci-dessus se trouvent partout; il n'empêche qu'il existe certains vinyles du groupe qui nécessitent des recherches approfondies.

I'll be waiting 7" - 1986 : sorti par Black Label Records, composé de 2 titres ("I'll be waiting" et "Blackball"), c'est un des objets les plus courtisés. Réédité en 1996 par des fans.
S/T - 1989 : premier album sorti en vinyle (5000 exemplaires) par Nemesis Records. Connu pour sa pochette dessinée par Marc Rude (le fameux "guitar-alien"), 11 titres (identique à la réédition de 1995 sur Nitro Records), article de collection très prisé.
Baghdad 7" - 1991 : deuxième 7" de The Offspring, sur Nemesis Records (limité à 3000 exemplaires), contient 4 titres ("Get it right", "Hey Joe" - reprise de Jimi Hendrix, "Baghdad" et "The Blurb")
